Workshop at Shelly's - July 21, 2012

On Saturday, July 21, 2012, we will be hosting a small workshop and crop in Kings Mills, Ohio from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m..  It will be $10 to crop, plus any class/workshop fees.  Shelly Allen is offering a Close to My Heart workshop at 1:00 p.m.  It will be $25 for 3-
two page layouts using the CTMH Superhero line.  More details about her workshop should be posted soon on her blog at http://www.gatheringmemories.blogspot.com/

I will be offering the following Newport Aquarium (or any Aquarium if you let me know you don't want it to say "Newport" before I cut the letters!) mosaic layout using CTMH stamps.

I originally saw a layout sort of like this in a Close to My Heart catalog.  I instantly fell in love with the layout and asked my friend and CTMH consultant, Shelly Allen, to do a workshop for the page.  Later, it occurred to me that the lines and shape of the layout would actually lend themselves quite nicely to a mosaic.  So, I set to work converting it.  I was very pleased with the finished background, but had not yet stamped the sea animals when I sent it to a couple of my close friends for a 'consultation' about what they thought of it.

Across the board, every friend I sent it to (5) said "I love the title but I don't really like the peacock feathery paper."  So, back to the drawing board I went.  This is the new and improved version (with sea creatures added)!

We'll be offering this class at a workshop at Shelly Allen's on July 21, 2012.  Shelly will have a 1:00 class an this one will be at 4:00.  The price for my class is $30 if you need a Mosaic Moments mat and $15 if you already have one.  You will also need your mosaic tool kit (cork-backed metal ruler, #11 blade craft knife, Herma Dotto Repositionable adhesive).  I'll provide the grid paper, patterned paper, and photo mat papers and we'll borrow Shelly's CTMH sea animals stamps and CTMH inks!  :)

And, just in case you're curious - here are the previous versions:

The one above is the pic from the catalog!

This one was my first stab at it.  Guess I'll use it for my own pics!

June Design Team Layout Challenge - More Elements

I was really rolling along on the "elements" aspect of that last Design Team challenge.  As I sorted through pictures looking for wooden items, I picked up on some other themes for Christopher.  So, I worked up this dual layout featuring metal and stone elements.

Yes, ladies, that's right.  That IS my boyfriend on the cover of Ohio Metal Detecting Magazine!  It's tough dating a cover boy!

Fridays Are for Friends

Summer Solstice is nearly upon us and what better time to share these awesome layouts with you guys.

This first one was created by my sister, Tracy using photos of her son, Aidan, on the slip and slide and some water patterned paper!  On the right-side page she used 2 1/8" squares for the pics and the water.  The size and perspective was just perfect for these pictures.  So stinkin cute!  Aidan loves that thing.

This second layout is compliments of my friend, Heather Bauer.  She won this Tami Potter / Mosaic Moments kit as a door prize at a class she took at my last crop.  She immediately put it to use with her Navy Pier photographs.  I love the "fun" feel of this layout and how the bright colors play off of the vivid blues in her pictures.

Thanks for sharing ladies, keep 'em coming!!!!

June Design Team Photo Challenge - Elements of You

The June photo challenge for the Tami Potter Mosaic Moments Design Team was to choose a person and an element that you think matches their personality and then take portrait-style photographs of that person and the photos of the element or things made from the element along with journaling that tells why you chose the element you did for the person.  Anyone who knows me (or Christopher) saw this one coming from a mile away!

Check out the tiny details and more of the story of the creation of this layout on Journella:

Brain Child - I love this piano layout!

I shared the story behind this layout on Journella - http://www.journella.com/storyboard/fullview/id/9720/Crafts-Scrapbooks-Brain-Baby---Piano-Layout

It was just one of those ideas that I had rattling around in my brain dreaming of how to turn it into a mosaic layout for so long.   If you appreciate all the work that went into this project, be please sure to join Journella and cheer for me.

This layout uses the 1" mosaic strip  elements to create a piano keyboard.  This is the perfect layout for those pics you snapped at your child's last elementary school music concert.  It is equally great for ballet photos, dance recitals, piano recitals, orchestra performances, and even some weddings (bride and groom's first dance) or proms.  What will you use it for?
I will be offering this layout as the second of two double-header classes at Red Letter Journals in Grove City, Ohio on June 30, 2012.  http://www.redletterjournals.com/   The first class is the fireworks layout class (10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon) and this is the second (1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.).  I believe it is $20 for one class or $35 for both, but check with store for reservations and pricing!

OOops - sorry folks won't be able to do it on June 30.  There's another class.  I'll get it on the schedule ASAP!

Happy Birthday Owen!!!

I cannot even believe that it has been 12 years since Owen was born.  That was certainly one of the most-life changing events in my own life.  I love my nephew more than even he can imagine.  I thought it was a fitting tribute to celebrate his 12th birthday with this mosaic of his 7th birthday!  My how he has grown in the last 5 years!
